2007: A golden age of TTs and Club Racing

As we get ready to reflect on 100 years of Newbury Road Club, it’s worth a look at relatively recent Club history – just 17 years ago.

Pre ‘blogging’, communication was still paper-based and the NRC Newsletter then was called Chainmail.  This edition from 2007 shows NRC with a thriving race and time-trialling (TT) scene. For most UK Clubs, TTs have seen a big decline in participation and, while NRC is no exception, it is still popular with 2024 NRC TT events reflecting a bumper season. The Army even hosted its own Championship at an NRC TT this September.

In 2007 many of the Club members participated in TTs and you may recognise some names still riding with us today. Club Runs get a small mention on the back page. How times have changed!

Enjoy the read.
