New Year, New Routes, New Cafes

Newbury Road Club

As we approach Spring many of you will be dusting off your bike saddles, pumping up the tyres and planning your cycling. Hopefully we’ll see you out on the Club rides soon.

NRC Route Library

We do recognise however that the scheduled Club rides are not convenient for everyone, and you may be making your own plans. It is therefore a good time to remind all members, old and new, about the Club’s Route Library.

The library includes nearly 200 routes which we have used over the years. Each entry includes a ridewithgps link, a brief description of where the ride goes, the distance, elevation, broad direction, and recommended cafes for the all-important coffee stop. Find it at newburyroadclub.co.uk/route-library.

New 100 Café Map

We are really privileged to have so many great café destinations, in fact we have over 100 in cycling distance of Newbury. These have been mapped out for you as an interactive Google map on the Club website. In our Centenary year, why not set yourself the challenge to visit as many as you can? Maybe try and visit all 100 in 2025! Find it at newburyroadclub.co.uk/cafes.

Remember, 20 of those cafes the Club visits regularly have been given Newbury Road Club branded pumps so that ‘cyclists in distress’ can re-inflate their tyres. Look out for our ‘Share the Air’ stickers in the cafe windows.

Both these great assets can help you explore our wonderful region and the fabulous cycling which awaits us all - once the sun shines again!

A big thank to all those who curate the route library and especially to Tim Pyatt for his creation of the 100 café map.
