Trophy Rules
The Burch 10 mile Championship Cup
To be contested for in the nominated Club 10 mile championship event.
The Pirouet Ladies Shield
To be contested for in the nominated Club 10 mile championship event.
Veterans` 10 Mile TT Club Championship (medal only)
To be awarded to the rider with the highest plus (improvement) on standard times taken from the VTTA standards in the Club 10 mile championship event. Riders must be age 40 or over at the time of the relevant event.
The Stonham 10 Shield
To be contested for in nominated Club 10 mile events; the winner being the rider with the lowest aggregate time from their best six rides in those nominated events.
Ladies` 10 Mile Series (medal only)
To be contested for in nominated Club 10 mile events; the winner being the rider with the lowest aggregate time from their best six rides in those nominated events.
The Tate Club Handicap Points Shield
To be awarded to the rider who accumulates the highest aggregate number of points calculated for each nominated event as follows: 1st on handicap - 6 points; 2nd on handicap - 4 points; 3rd on handicap - 3 points; 4th on handicap - 2 points; all other finishers - 1 point; improvement in nominated event on personal best time from ANY Club 10 mile event in the current or previous season - 2 points. Points are awarded in nominated Club events over 10 miles. The handicap is to be based upon a rider's best time in ANY Club 10 mile event in the current and previous season and using the CTT handicap tables.
The Subscription Championship 25 Cup
To be contested for in the nominated Club 25 mile championship event.
The Ladies Championship 25 Cup
To be contested for in the nominated Club 25 mile championship event.
Miss I Burch Cup (Bon Amis) (Veterans' 25 mile Championship)
To be awarded to rider with the highest plus (improvement) on standard times taken from the VTTA standards in the Club 25 mile championship event. Riders must be age 40 or over at the time of the relevant event.
The Mike & Hazel Percival 25 Cup
To be awarded to the best aggregate improvement for two 25 mile events in the current season compared with the previous season.- Where no member improves then the cup will go to the rider with the least deterioration from the previous season times. Qualifying events are any verifiable event.
The Smith Handicap 25 Shield
To be contested for in a nominated Club 25 mile event. The handicap is to be based upon a rider's best time in a Club 25 mile event in the current and last season and using the CTT handicap tables. *If the Alice Haller trophy is being contested for in the same event, this trophy will be awarded to the first man on handicap.

To be contested for in a nominated Club 25 mile event. The Alice Haller Ladies Handicap 25 Cup
To be contested for in a nominated Club 25 mile event. The handicap is to be based upon a rider's best time in a Club 25 mile event in the current and last season and using the CTT handicap tables.
Mrs F Taylor Cup (Bon Amis) Mens SPOCO (medal only)
To be awarded to the rider with the highest aggregate points in the Club SPOCO series. Points to be awarded on the following basis: 1st 20; 2nd 15; 3rd 10; 4th 8; 5th 7; 6th 6; 7th 5; 8th 4; 9th 3; 10th 2 and all other finishes one point.
Ladies SPOCO Championship (medal only)
To be awarded to the rider with the highest aggregate points in the Club SPOCO series. Points to be awarded on the following basis: 1st 20; 2nd 15; 3rd 10; 4th 8; 5th 7; 6th 6; 7th 5; 8th 4; 9th 3; 10th 2 and all other finishes one point.
The Tate Bucklebury Cup
To be contested for in a nominated Club hilly event (usually HCC201a, Bucklebury Circuit).
Ladies Bucklebury Cup
To be contested for in a nominated Club hilly event (usually HCC201a, Bucklebury Circuit).
The Senior Men's Best All Rounder Cup
To be awarded to the rider with the best average mph over the following distances Club events: 3 x 10 miles and 2 x 25 miles.
The Women's Best All Rounder Shield
To be awarded to the rider with the best average mph over the following distances in Club events: 2 x 10 miles and 2 x 25 miles.
The Veterans' Best All Rounder Shield
To be awarded to the rider with the highest plus (improvement) on standard times taken from the VTTA standards over the following distances in Club events: 3 x 10 miles and 2 x 25 miles. Riders must be age 40 or over at the time of a counting event.
Non-Aero TT Series Shield
To the rider with the lowest aggregate time for the Non-Aero Series. A rider's best n-1 rides will count where n is the number of non-aero events nominated in the season. If no-one attends as many as n-1 races then the lowest aggregate time from n-2 will win etc. 2nd and 3rd places will be awarded based on the same number of rides as the winning rider. Bikes that comply with the Road Bike Criteria set out by CTT Regulations. The timekeeper’s decision is final on this.
Ladies Non-Aero Series (medal only)
To the rider with the lowest aggregate time for the Non-Aero Series. A rider's best n-1 rides will count where n is the number of non-aero events nominated in the season. If no-one attends as many as n-1 races then the lowest aggregate time from n-2 will win etc. 2nd and 3rd places will be awarded based on the same number of rides as the winning rider. Bikes that comply with the Road Bike Criteria set out by CTT Regulations. The timekeeper’s decision is final on this.
The Club Hill Climb Trophy
To be contested for in a nominated hill climb event, traditionally on a Sunday morning.
Ladies Hill Climb Championship
To be contested for in a nominated hill climb event, traditionally on a Sunday morning.
The Mayor's Trophy
Award to the winner of the Summer Evening long Hill Climb from Inkpen to Walbury Hill mast, 4.4 miles.
The Ball Richards 30 Cup
To be contested for in a nominated Club 30 mile event.
Ladies 30 Mile Time Trial Trophy
To be contested for in a nominated Club 30 mile event.
The Starkey Championship 50 Cup
To be contested for in a nominated Club 50 mile event.
The Festival Handicap 50 Cup
To be contested for in a nominated Club 50 mile event.
The Frost Championship 100 Cup
To be awarded to the rider who has the fastest 100 mile time in any verifiable event.
Closest To 50 Minutes For 2 x 10 Mile time trials
This is awarded to the person that is closest to 50 minutes over 2 x 10 mile time trials. The events have to be ridden on the same course and the two times are combined and subtracted from 50 minutes for the difference, the person with the lowest difference is the winner.
Best Racing Newcomer
Awarded at the discretion of the Time Trial/Racing Secretary to the best newcomer in a racing season.
The Merit Shield
To be awarded at the discretion of the Committee to any member giving outstanding service to the Club.
Newbury Road Club Womens Award
To be awarded at the discretion of the women's ride lead team for outstanding achievement in, or contribution to, Women's Cycling.
Pete Jarvis Memorial Shield/The Starkey Runs Attendance Shield
To be awarded to the member with the highest number of points accumulated in the Club year calculated as follows: One point to be awarded to each member attending a Club run and staying out until at least elevenses. In the event of a tie at the end of the Club year the Committee will use its discretion in deciding the trophy winner. In the event that points are not kept, the Committee will use its discretion in deciding whether the trophy is to be awarded and, if so, the trophy winner.
The Presidents (One Mile) Cup
To be awarded at the discretion of the President to the club member he/she feels merits the award. The Committee should be consulted for it's opinion but the President's decision is final.
The 'Southdown' Ride of the Year Trophy
To be awarded at the discretion of the Committee for the most outstanding ride of the year in any cycling discipline or event.
The 'Well Maybe' Trophy
To be awarded at the discretion of the Committee to the member offering the feeblest excuse for not attending Club runs or starting in events or for not fulfilling promises made etc.
The Barlow Hilly 50 Saddle Trophy
To be contested for in a nominated hilly event.
The Junior Best All Rounder Shield
Based on the average mph over the following distances: 2 x 10 miles and 2 x 25 miles.
The Boys Juvenile Best All Rounder Shield
Based on the average mph over the following distances: 2 x 10 miles and 1 x 25 miles.
The Girls Juvenile Best All Rounder Shield
Based on the average mph over the following distances: 2 x 10 miles and 1 x 25 miles.
The Lyle Boys Junior 10 mile Championship Cup
To be contested for in a nominated Club 10 mile event.
The Girls Junior 10 mile Championship
To be contested for in a nominated Club 10 mile event
The Boys Juvenile 10 mile Championship
To be contested for in a nominated Club 10 mile event.
The Girls Juvenile 10 mile Championship
To be contested for in a nominated Club 10 mile event
The Comber Junior 25 Cup
To be contested for in a nominated Club 25 mile event.
The Senior Road Race Trophy
Will be awarded to the rider who has accumulated the most BC points (excluding track points) in that season.
The Barlow Junior Road Race Shield
Will be contested for in a nominated event, usually the BC Divisional Championship.
The Road Race Points Shield
Will be awarded to the rider accumulating the most points in designated events in the Club's evening series.
The Veterans Road Race Shield
Will be awarded to the rider obtaining the most points during a season based on the following rules: Riders must be 40 years of age or over on the day of a race; Only races run under BC, LVRC or TLI rules are eligible; Points will be accrued on a race basis and not on an age related basis. Handicap races will be construed to be one race; In age related races riders competing in an older category, where it is a seperate race, can collect points for 1st down to 5th place in that race but then must revert to the next younger age band in order to secure more points. Places 6th to 10th will collect points and may stay in that age band; Points accrued from a rider's best 8 races of the season; Points will be awarded as follows: 10 for 1st place, 9 for 2nd and so on down to 1 for 10th; When contesting a bunch finish for a place inside the top 10 and where individual placings cannot be identified, 3 points will be awarded; All riders completing the full race distance of an event will receive one point. If a rider is pulled out by the organisers of a short circuit race (under 2 miles) because they have been lapped and provided they are still racing at the time of being pulled out they will still receive one point as if they had finished the full distance.
The Ominium Track Shield
Will be awarded to the winner of an omnium run at a nominated venue on a nominated day and consisting of the following disciplines: Sprint; Pursuit; One mile scratch; 10 lap points; Or other events designated prior to the track meeting.
The Club Senior 'Off Road' Championship Trophy
To be contested for in a nominated 'Off Road' event.
The Club Junior Boys 'Off Road' Championship
To be contested for in a nominated 'Off Road' event.
The Boys under 12 'Off Road' Championship
To be contested for in a nominated 'Off Road' event.
The Girls under 12 'Off Road' Championship
To be contested for in a nominated 'Off Road' event.

The Club Senior 'Off Road' Best All Rounder
To be awarded on a points basis to the rider accumulating the most points in a designated series of events which will include:-1 x MTB Road Time Trial; 1 x Hackpen Hill event; 1 x Summer points series event ; 1 x The Championship race; 1 x Other Event. Points to be awarded on the following basis: 1st 40 points; 2nd 36 points; 3rd 33 points; 4th 30 points; 5th 28 points; 6th 26 points; 7th 24 points; 8th 23 points; 9th 22 points; 10th 21 points; and thereafter deducting one point for each placing.
The Club Ladies 'Off Road' Best All Rounder
To be awarded on a points basis to the rider accumulating the most points in a designated series of events which will include:-1 x MTB Road Time Trial; 1 x Hackpen Hill event; 1 x Summer points series event ; 1 x The Championship race; 1 x Other Event. Points to be awarded on the following basis: 1st 40 points; 2nd 36 points; 3rd 33 points; 4th 30 points; 5th 28 points; 6th 26 points; 7th 24 points; 8th 23 points; 9th 22 points; 10th 21 points; and thereafter deducting one point for each placing.
The Club Junior Boys 'Off Road' Best All Rounder
To be awarded on a points basis to the rider accumulating the most points in a designated series of events which will include: 1 x MTB Road Time Trial; 1 x Hackpen Hill event; 1 x Summer points series event; 1 x The Championship race; 1 x Other Event. The Girls Under 12 'Off Road' Best All Rounder

Points to be awarded on the following basis: 1st 40 points; 2nd 36 points; 3rd 33 points; 4th 30 points; 5th 28 points; 6th 26 points; 7th 24 points; 8th 23 points; 9th 22 points; 10th 21 points; and thereafter deducting one point for each placing.
MTB Time Trial Medals
A medal to be awarded in a nominated time trial for the fastest ride on a mountain bike conforming to the following specification: The bicycle must have wheels no bigger than 26 inches in diameter; The tyres must be at least 1.7 inches wide and be of a knobbly design i.e. no slicks or semi slicks are allowed and this includes knobblies that have worn down; Tri style handlebars are not allowed but regular MTB bar ends are acceptable; Helmets must be worn and must be of a type that would comply with MTB race regulations i.e. no aero helmets are allowed.
Women's MTB Time Trial Medals
